This lovely, restful room with fine, oak beams
is in the old part of the house. This is a room to 'withdraw',
to relax, to read, to write, to take tea, to play cards, or to
escape the world outside or the bustle of the kitchen. There are
two chaises-longues and a sofa, an oak gate-leg table and three
Adams-style chairs. |

The piano is a Clementi old square from about
1800 (musicians are welcome to play it by prior arrangement and payment of the £80 cost of tuning); the blue china bowl
under the piano was used to bathe my grandfather as a baby when
his parents journeyed back from India. |

The Drawing Room has leaded windows over the Tilting Yard, French
windows to the main garden and a door to the conservatory. |
