| "A
Very Special House and Gardens to Rent in Historic, Rural Somerset"
Welcome to Cossington Park - our family home for over 300 years. At the heart of one of England's finest tourist locations, yet only five minutes from the M5 motorway, Cossington Park is available on a self-catering basis for families and friends, reunions, and as a retreat and film set. Cossington Park sleeps from 8 to 12/14 in six beautifully decorated bedrooms (12 in full-size, queen or king beds, one day-bed, one put-u-up, 2 cots). There are 22 acres of superbly maintained gardens and grounds. It is rated five stars by VisitBritain. Click this link to see what our recent guests said about their stay. The house and gardens are looked after by a dedicated and caring team and we pride ourselves on providing exceptional service. We have the best equipped kitchens of any self-catering property we know. We can offer superb cooks if you would like someone to prepare for a special occasion and a wonderful beauty therapist if you need further pampering. We can arrange many other special events & activities such as archery and falcony in the gardens, horse-drawn carriage rides or a hot air balloon over Cheddar Gorge. Cossington Park is located in the pretty village of Cossington in Somerset, on the edge of the Polden Hills and the Somerset Levels, between Glastonbury and Bridgwater, just three and a half miles from the M5 motorway. Within easy access are many of the West Country's beauty spots and attractions including: Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole Caves; Dunster Castle; Exmoor, the Quantocks, Mendips and Brendon Hills; the cities of Bath and Wells; Glastonbury Priory and Tor; Longleat. Cossington Park has been home to a family of explorers, adventurers, sailors, politicians and philanthropists, including:
Because it is a private home, Cossington Park's furniture and paintings reflect the family history: the bookcase in The Drawing Room carved by my father's stepmother; the wheel supports in The Library taken from our grandfather's ship, 'The Devonshire'; the 5000 books collected by successive generations since the late 17th Century. Many family portraits, photographs and papers are on display. You will find the atmosphere at Cossington Park informal and friendly, and yet very special. We will do whatever we can to make your stay hugely enjoyable. Cossington Park is above all a place to relax, to be at peace, with good friends and family, and good books. We hope that your stay here will be memorable and that you will come again. Cossington Park is non profit-making. All revenues are ploughed back into the estate so that it may be enjoyed by future as well as present generations. Please do not hesitate to call or email us for further information or with any questions.
